We moved here last year and we were recommended to Black Forest Veterinary Clinic by our neighbors. We knew our dog needed a dental from our previous vet in Virginia before we left, we scheduled that and our dog had 15 teeth pulled. Dr Amy explained why this had to be done, that the sockets would be sutured and pain management was necessary following the procedure. She is a much happier dog now, with no bad breath. We have heard of anesthetic disasters from our neighbors about other vets around Colorado Springs, we felt like we were treated professionally and most importantly our dog was too. Sometimes you get what you pay for and we are very pleased.
This Vet charges twice as much as other Vets. I had some teeth pulled on our dog. The first Vet said it would be no more than $240. Black Forest said it should be around $300. I went with Black Forest cuz they are closer. Well, I pick up the dog and it was $500! No reason why it was more. I just called to see how much it is to fix a little Chihuahua and Black Forest wants $300! The other vet is $160 and the Spay clinic is only $80. I understand charging more, but more than double is just toooooooo much!!!!
Greatest staff around. The black forest Vet is the best. Every vet can take care of your pet, but the amount of caring they show is amazing. You know they truly care about you and your pets! Thank you for everything you do!
They care about animals AND you!. I have been taking my pomeranian, Tinkerbelle to these wonderful people for 9 years now. They are always very gentle and caring with her. They are knowledgable and good at explaining things in an understandable way. But another aspect that you just don't find with some vets is they work with you to make the expense of using a vet (an aspect none of us care for but accept) doable. I have lived under very tight financial circumstances the whole time I have lived here but no matter what, they always work out a plan that I can handle. That to me is almost as important as someone being gentle with my "baby". What good is a great vet if you can't afford to go to him? I highly recommend them!
Friendly and caring staff.
I've been going here for about seven years and they're great. The staff and doctors are friendly and caring.
A couple of years ago, my cat developed asthma. Her breathing was very distressed all night and I didn't know what it was. I called the next morning and they got me in that day. The doctor gave her a shot and told me to call in a day or two to let him know how she was. When I didn't call, he actually called me and asked how she was.
More recently (today), we took our three dogs (55-80 lb each) and two cats in all at the same time for annual exams and vaccinations. Both the tech and the doctor were very friendly, not only to us, but to each of our pets. They talked to the dogs and cats as they did the exam, which I think is cool because it seems like they genuinely like pets and care about each one. Also, one of our dogs is a 10 yo greyhound, Greyhounds are notorious for having bad teeth. Compared to our other two dogs, I thought her teeth were really bad and the doctor would tell me I need to bring her in for a $200+ cleaning. Instead, he told me that because of her age and the fact that greyhounds don't always do well under anesthesia, he wouldn't recommend it. Instead, he brought in a little tool and scraped some of her teeth and said we should just keep an eye on it. I was impressed that he didn't try to talk me into an expensive procedure, plus the fact that he knew greyhound-specific facts.
Over the years, I've seen all three vets at this clinic, and I've found each of them to be very caring and competent.
Oh, yeah, and when I had to have my 17 yo cat put to sleep a couple of years ago, they were very compassionate. I hope this isn't too morbid - but after she was gone, they took her out of the room and brought her back wrapped up, they had positioned her so that she was curled up with her paw over her nose and eyes so it looked like she was taking a nap. Maybe that is TMI, and maybe everyplace does that, I don't know. But to me, it seemed very thoughtful and compassionate.
Dissapointed.
I have had many animals as patients @ this clinic - I have mostly been have been happy until of late.
I have a dog with addisons disease - and to place a call for a critical medication and to wait over a week with out a call back is unacceptable. With out her medication my dog will most likely die...and I made it clear I was as at a critical state over a week ago...still waiting for a tech to call back....
left another message requesting a script to I can order her medication on line...hopefully my son can pick this up and we can move on...because clearly they dont care!
Have to endure product line sales pitch.
We only went there for a quick visit for shots for dogs, and they tried to sell multiple products they are carrying.
Our neighbors dog died after being misdiagnosed at this vet.
Started going to Falcon animal hospital.
Excellent Vetrinarian. This is an entire group of people that make you and your pet feel comfortable. They were so loving and caring with our BullMastiff. We recommend this facility to everyone that truly want great care for their pets.
Excellent Veterinarian. Dr. Coufal is very meticulous and diligent, and puts even my very timid greyhound at ease. He is extremely patient, and he takes his time to make sure you understand all treatment options. Dr. Coufal and the entire staff at Black Forest Vet Clinic are highly recommended by my husband and me.
