BUYER BEWARE!!!. TERRIBLE RETURN POLICY!!!!! I had my foot fitted by their expert (as per the store policy) for a ballroom dance shoe and explained that they were going to be worn as as a street shoe for my upcoming wedding. I moved out of state before the shoes arrived and was unable to inspect them before making the final payment. When I received them, they were too small (even for a ballroom shoe). I offered to return the shoes at my expense and forfeit the $40 deposit but was refused. My reasoning was that had I been local I would have never made the final $60 payment once I tried on the shoes and discovered they didn't fit. They refused stating they were final sale because they were special order. I am a stickler for details and do not like surprises so when I ordered the shoes I asked what would happen if they did not fit and was assured that they would work something out. I remember this conversation in detail because I had previously ordered ballroom shoes for my daughter from Assemble and although they were all the same size, each shoe fit different.

In respect to this particular situation I feel the staff was rigid, unreasonable and uncompromising. I guess since Assemble is the only specialty dance store in the area they can afford to have unhappy customers. Up until this point, I had always had a pleasant experience in the store and as long as you don't have to place a special order you should be fine. I now live in FL where they are multiple options to purchase dancewear which encourages businesses to practice basic CUSTOMER SERVICE and SATISFACTION skills. I have found that when a market is competitive business are grateful for their customers and problems like the one I experienced at Assemble are resolved in a fair and equitable manner.

Dancewear Store. This is a nice family-owned dancewear store. Owners and staff are very professional, courteous, and are willing to help with whatever dancewear needs you may have. One of the owners, Noel Amend, is a nation-wide renowned point-shoe fitter. I also like that they have a great number of different ballroom shoes. It is unlikely that you would walk away without good quality and correctly fitted shoes.
