I grudgingly give it three stars because the kids loved it...
I booked this hotel for our spring break vacation because of the free food and the dozens of good reviews online. I didn't have high expectations of the food, and you shouldn't either. The kids were happy because they got shirley temples and mac n cheese for dinner every night and waffles and lucky charms for breakfast every morning. I was glad for not having to pay extra for breakfast and dinner. However the offerings were not high quality and not well stocked. The only fruit available at breakfast was slightly old apples and green bananas. At dinner it was a pale salad with limp carrot sticks playing the part of veggies. When I went through the buffet this morning I had to ask various staff members for forks, sausage half and half, cereal, eggs. By the time I actually got everything I needed, my "hot breakfast" was totally cold. The staff was very sorry. There was syrup and salsa all over the floor. Also, I had to floss coffee grinds out of my teeth.
The room was quiet and seemed clean, but the decor was horribly dated. I had to call the front office because my girls found a syringe outside of the window of our room. Fortunately they did not open the window and pick it up before the hotel staff came to remove it. It made me feel like this is not the best neighborhood!
The kids really enjoyed the pool, which is shallow and full of screaming kids; and the hot tub, which is also shallow and full of screaming kids. Hint...no such thing as an adult swim. But if you have kids or are a kid, it's great.
The hotel is right off the highway and close to shopping places. There is a whole foods, a wal-mart, a movie theater, and a dozen restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel. Also it appears to be one of the better hotels in the area, so I guess it's okay. It more or less met my expectations, and the only thing I was absolutely appalled by was the needle outside the window. I might look elsewhere for accommodations next time I come to visit this area, because I think higher quality food might be worth paying extra for.
