No complaints here!.
Like No Other did our wedding cake 6 years ago and it was literally the best cake I've ever had.
For the last 3 years they have done our daughter's birthday cakes and I'm amazed each time by the quality and workmanship. We get pretty creative with our birthday parties, so I ask for over-the-top sculpted cakes and they never disappoint. The price is phenomenal for what I ask them to do.
As a result friends now use the bakery because they've been so impressed by the look and the taste.
And I love that I go in once a year to order her cake, and they know exactly who I am and what I'm there for. Nancy loves that she gets to be a part of our little girl's life after being a part of our wedding day. I couldn't be happier with the service I receive when I'm there!
Sorry to say-WORST cake EVER!. I unfortunately went to this bakery due to the recommendation of a friend. I ordered a cake for our baby girl's 3rd birthday party. My husband went to get the cake, and not knowing what it should look like, paid the $50 for it and left. When he got home with it I cried because it was the most hideously ugly thing I had ever seen. He hated it and wanted to throw it in the trash right then and go get something else, but I said no, that maybe I could fix it. It was supposed to be a Disney Little Mermaid cake, but it was a grey cake and a far cry from anything Disney. The tiny "decoration" they made for the center of the cake looked like a pencil sketched paper doll from the 1950's. They had a picture of what Ariel looked like and said "no problem", but obviously could not do the work they promised. The thing they drew looked like a brown haired, deformed doll with arm-pit hair. It was truly awful! And that was all they put on the cake for my 3 yr. old. A three inch little drawing on a giant 1/2 sheet cake with grey frosting. No flowers..nothing. I didn't have time to take the cake back, so I ripped the hideous thing off the middle and put a few Disney mermaids and party favors on the cake in a last ditch effort to fix the atrocity. Then, telling myself that a 3 yr. old won't care what it looks like as long as it tastes good, I served it at her party. OMG-it tasted horrible. I'm not a very picky person, especially when it comes to cake-lol- but we ended up throwing the whole thing in the trash. Even the kids said it tasted "funny" and all the adults could say was"Um-interesting?" What a waste of $50! Any Safeway, Target, or Wal-Mart cake for $25 would have looked 1000 percent better, AND we could have eaten it. *SAD:(
Fabulous Taste with Beautiful Presentation.
Everything they make is wonderful from Apple Pie (the best) to Wedding Cakes. Awesome Artistry. Gracious, friendly and a superb eye for detail.
A place where you just can't go wrong. Be bold and ask for what you want ... they love a challenge.,
Horrible Business Woman.
I visited Nancy at Like No Other Cakes, months before my wedding, for a cake testing. Her cake was delicious and she was a very nice lady. She even let me take some cake home for my fiancee to try. I decided to go with Like No Other Cakes for my wedding cake. On my visit at the cake testing Nancy quoted me $250.00 for a cake to serve 75 people. About a month before my wedding my Mother stopped by the cake shop to let Nancy feel how heavy my cake topper was and my mom overheard Nancy telling another customer she is going to be focusing on pies now. I then called her to go over the final details and finalize everything to make sure we were on the same page. Nancy then told me the final amount of the cake was going to be $370. When I replied by telling her she quoted me $250, she denied ever having said that, and said she didn't write that down anywhere so I've got to pay the $370. I said ok (thinking I won't have time to find another cake place, especially since I live out of town). I then called Nancy 2 weeks before the wedding to see if she could send me something in writing garrenting that if I am not satified with the cake she will give me some sort of refund. I learned my lesson the first time. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING WITH THIS WOMAN. Nancy "freaked out" and was incrediably unprofessional as she yelled at me telling me she has a good reputation and in 37 years has never had a complaint. She thought I didn't have confidence in her making my cake so said I should go somewhere else. I told her I love her cake and think she will do great but you never know what is going to happen and because of the $250 ordeal I would like something in writing. It ended with her still yelling and me hanging up. Now I am stuck, 2 weeks befvore my wedding trying to find another baker who is actually available.
This woman is NOT a good business woman. Her cake was good at the testing, but be sure to get everything IN WRITING with her.
Superb Wedding Cakes!. Nancy at Like No Other creates beautiful wedding cakes! My husband and I went there for a cake tasting prior to our wedding and she was so sweet! The cake samples she provided were moist and yummy! She had several books to look through and matched the colors of our wedding through a paint sample I brought her. Her cake prices were VERY reasonable! She gave us good suggestions as to how to keep costs low--we chose to have a 3 tiered cake with an additional sheet cake to be served. She scored and decorated each piece on the sheet cake so the restaurant knew exactly where to cut the slices. Nancy called to touch base with me prior to the wedding and let me know what time she'd arrive at the reception site. I had no worries about the cake at all--this truly is the service every bride needs! I cannot tell you how yummy the cake was! It was fluffy and moist and we had so many complements! It turned out beautiful! Thanks Nancy! The Bakers.
