Great Food, Bad Service – I absolutely LOVE Chopsticks, but one thing that would make them even better is if they could get some decent wait staff.
I have eaten here multiple times in the last month with multiple waitresses and had poor experiences each time.
One waitress didn't even get a drink order for almost 10 minutes of us sitting down during a slow lunch service, and she seemed completely overwhelmed the entire time. If you asked for something she would say she'll do it after doing something else.. giving excuses..just came off very unprofessional and unexperienced.
Another waitress had very strange eye contact the entire time. Also mumbling when coming to the table instead of making herself known and sort of taking the tone one should when they're asking to take a drink order, dinner order, etc. Also a bottle of wine was ordered by one person at the table and she showed and poured the wine to another person at the table... isn't the etiquitte that if someone orders a bottle that they get the show since it's usually on their dime? Anyway, just strange service with this particular waitress and in general with the waitresses at Chopsticks.
The owner is a GREAT lady... I am almost in shock that she doesn't have amazing people waiting tables for her.
Poor Service – 1. No kids menu
2. We were told the kitchen was "very flexible" but they actually would not substitute for kids and when asked to substitute soft noodles for rice on adult dish, they sent out a few crispy noodles on the side.
3. Entree served before soup - when we asked, the waiter said he forgot. When he finally brought the soup (Hot and Sour and Egg Drop) it was bland at best.
4. There was a small piece of bone in the chicken that caused discomfort when bitten.
5. Waiter did not return to service table.
Owner became agitated and rude when these items were pointed out to her. I guess she thought we were trying to get out without paying. However, we did pay for the poor service and mediocre food.
Ambience, food, service and price all top notch! – We love this place. There are many original recipes. Everything is very freshly prepared with care. The decor is clean and modern, the servers very personable. We can arrive in a t-shirt and jeans or more formally dressed with food-savvy visitors, either way we are greeted with friendliness and served as if we are honored guests. Try the Malaysian Chicken and the Macademia Nut Chicken. MMMM
