Mediocre. I gave it a try twice on a sunny day. Nice to sit outside but the food I thought was mediocre and the prices were very steep for a lunch menu.
Families and large groups feast on hearty cuts and comfort food at this Rocky-Mountain style steakhouse..
In Short
Lots of mahogany, tin ceilings, metal crown molding and Arts and Crafts-style décor prevail at this casual, comfortable saloon, part of media mogul Ted Turner's domain. Beef and bison are king, and they're hand-cut on site. Other bites include beer-can chicken, bison prime rib and cedar planked salmon. For dessert, there's home-made cookies, Kahlua fudge brownies, Coke floats and strawberry shortcake.
Not a place to take children (even older ones) especially if they are hungry. The food was good, but not exceptional. Service was slow on our last two visits. We decided last winter that we wanted to try it as we like buffalo and Ted's is one of the newer chain restaurants in the Springs. We asked that the children be served as soon as their food was ready, but one was served after the 4 adults in our party. On a prior visit, the two of us also had slow service, and it didn't seem busy , in fact there were empty tables around us. but wanted to give it another try....and introduce the children to buffalo. It was a disappointment.
Just another chain..... When I heard they were coming to town I looked forward to seeing what kind og concept this was going to be. Just another casual restaurant, nothing special, prime rib, steak, and bufalo with a baked potato. The quality and service was good, but its almost an Outback...sigh
Buffalo, the other Red Meat. A friend (from Atlanta, no less) recommended Ted's, so we gave it a go. Buffalo burger was excellent. The pickles were neat. Definitely worth trying if you want something a little different than Red Robin, Ruby Tuesday, etc.
Good homey menu-interesting different food-Buffalo meat is specialty. This restaurant specializes in Buffalo meat (Ted is Ted Turner of Montana Buffalo ranching fame) and they do it well. There are also other options, and they have the best side dishes, their onion rings are homemade, their green beans are meltingly tender and their mashed potatoes are also great!! They serve before the meal a small bowl of"half-sours" which are patially pickled (halfway) cucumbers-they are outstanding also. Their potroast and buffalo burgers are also great, as is the Salmon. Great desserts even though I don't usually order them. Very old fashioned good food. Good service!
