Wonderful German food!. A fantastic t place for German food. The staff are friendly, the service is great and the owner is very visible. Special occasions like February 14th was truly s celebration there!
By far the best German restaurant this side of Germany!!. My husband and I have been coming to Edelweiss faithfully for the last 12 years, Every annivarsary, birthday, valentines day ect. The only food that campares to the "real thing" is Germany itself and of course my German Mother -in -laws cooking. Noy only is the food spectacular, the wait staff and the musicians bring back so many memories. It's hard to duplicate authenic German cooking, but with the majority of their staff being German themselves, they really know what they are doing. Please keep up the great work and EVERYONE needs to give them a try.
Great Food, Great Atmosphere, A little on the pricey side.
I love the food here- highly recommend the veal spaetzle dish and all of the desserts.
The atmosphere is wonderful. Great for a romantic dinner.
The staff is friendly.
The food is a little pricey, so be prepared.
Okay, not great.
As a native German, I was excited to check out the local Bavarian Restaurant. It looks cute and is pretty cozy, and the wait staff is very nice (and actually German!) I'm not sure I agree with the previous review that the food was horrid, but have to admit that it was not great, and definitely not as good as I expected, considering it's not cheap. I had Kaesspaetzle, which officially was only on the Kid's menu (a surprise, since that's really a Southern German classic) - really they were not great. Much too saucy and not enough cheese! The Black Forrest Torte we had for dessert was good, not great, but ok.
Well, thank goodness for Wimberger's Old World Bakery in West Colorado Springs on Bott Street - definitely the best German Store I have seen in the US! :)
Worst German food I have EVER had! I give MINUS stars rating!. This was by far the most horrible tasting German food I have ever put in my mouth. It was practically inedible. I literally had two bites of everything I ordered (except the overly sweet salad-left canned green beans behind) and could not gag down any more. We ordered the Jagerschnitzel, spaetle, potato dumpling and red cabbage - our favorites. The pork was poor quality grade, tough and chewy. The gravy tasted as if it made from a powdered mix pouch. The spaetzle was a dry hardened yellow color but did taste alright. The vegetables were overly steamed - soggy. The potato dumplings would have been ok (although very gummy) had they not been smothered in another gravy from a jar with an odd cinnamon flavor to it. The red cabbage was sickenly sweet and syrupy thick. I was not expecting the gourmet German I am accustomed to but rather was told to expect "home-style" German. Well, I have been to Germany twice and have eaten at 4 other German restaurants in Colorado (all not that good) and I would not even consider this food "home-style". None of it tasted even remotely homemade. Not even the apple strudel dessert could salvage the dinner. I was awful too. More like an apple cobbler - the almond whipped cream didn't do much for it either. It was an extreme disappointment after reading these reviews. Different taste buds I suppose... Definitely not worth the 1 1/2 hour drive and will NOT be coming back. Service was not that great either. The only good thing is we sat inside in the small section next to the fireplace. Cozy atmosphere - could do without the strolling musicians though - they did not play any German music just strange song requests. Outside looked fun if you were there for beer and brats during the afternoon or an Oktoberfest party.
wunderbar!. Went with my husband, his brother & his wife. Celebrated both the guys birthdays, 1 week apart. The waitress was wonderful-brought out cake for each of the guys with a candle. The food was superb; especially the salad. Best potato salad I've ever had. And the desserts!!!!!!
Great German Atmosphere, must not miss.. Great food and Atmosphere, though I was back in Germany. Love the music that was played, and the friendly service. Highly recommended.
Just Like A German Guesthaus!.
My wife and daughter and I were in Colorado Springs on Father's Day looking for a good restaurant to go to.
I heard Edelweiss was a good bet so we went there. I was taken back to my days in West Germany once through the doors. I ordered the
Edelweiss Platte, my wife and daughter ordered the weinerschnitzel. I was worried as my daughter
had never eaten German food. My fears were dispelled as she ate the entire dinner without an apparent pause for breath! The Edelweiss Platte gives you a taste from different parts of the menu
and is very tasty and filling. The wait staff is an enchanting ensamble of beautiful German ladies that made me feel like I was truly at home. Edelweiss will always be on my list as a superb German restaurant that cannot be omitted from a visit to Colorado Springs! Sehr Gut!!!!!
