I had Couture Cupcakes do my sisters shower cake – I got my sister a cake here for her baby shower. So glad I did, it was so beautiful, and tasted even better. I wish I could post a picture of it. We sat down and designed it together, and it even looked better than the sketch that they did for us. We will be doing all of our events with this company. We had another company lined up for the party and they called me at the last minute, cancelled and left us in a bad place. Couture Cupcakes took very good care of us. Love them.
Can't get the bad taste out of my mouth... – While I am not a huge fan of cake, I do like cupcakes. The serving size of a cupcake is usually just right to satisfy me. I saw this shop (Couture Cupcakes) on the way out of the movie theater and decided to try them out. BIG MISTAKE. I walked in and there was no one behind the counter. Waited a few minutes and the clerk came out and said, "Hi," walked behind the register and didn't say anything else. Should have taken the hint then, but I decided I wanted to try one of their cupcakes, so I asked what flavors they had. The clerk pointed them all out to me. They didn't have many of their standard sized cupcakes in stock, but they did have some minis for $1 a piece, so I decided to try 3 different flavors, figuring that would amount to the size and price of one of their standard offerings. I tried a root beer, a plain chocolate and a red velvet. I couldn't decipher a difference between the red velvet and the chocolate. The root beer didn't have much of a rootbeer taste. All three cupcakes were drier than dry and the frosting was chalky...worse than a cupcake from the local grocer. I almost wiped my tongue with a napkin to get the texture of the frosting out of my mouth. I had seen their Facebook page and also checked out their website, and the photos looked nice enough. However, what they had in the case didn't really mirror the online photos.
I have tried a few different places in town, including one on the west side and the cupcake truck. I'd recommend visiting either of those two.
Great Cupcakes & A company full of huge hearts! – Not only do these guys have the best cupcakes in town, but they are a company full of huge hearts.
Couture Cupcake, Joni the Owner & her staff, does so much charity work for this town. Not only has she done fantastic "Frost A Cupcake" events for us, but they have done them for many other charities and fundraisers.
Couture Cupcakes has also given a percentage of their sales, and I am sure they have done that for other fundraisers also. Her cupcakes have help many kids in need, and I'm sure many others in this town.
And lastly they provided donated cupcakes for our event, and they were THE hit of the event.
How do you spell Philanthropic . . . Couture Cupcakes that's how.
I can not thank you enough!
Deceptive – The website and FB page is what drew me to this shop. However, after looking at the FB and website for so long, and finally going into the shop I was greatly dissappointed. None of the cupcakes looked as good as on the website. I bought one, and went on my way. It did taste like box cake, as other reviewers said, and I'm also fairly certain the frosting tasted like something from a store as well.
I went back to the website only to find that the pictures posted were taken from other bakeries websites. There is a reverse lookup tool you can install onto firefox called tineye. It can sometimes pull up where images originated from....a couple I found were from catherines cakes. co.uk. I emailed her about it and she said that this company has done this before :( It is upsetting that a shop so liked in colorado springs is so false.
Very Moist! – OMG! Roasted S'mores, Bavarian Cream, Brownie Chunk, Lemon Blueberry . . . These are the moisted cupcakes I've ever had, and the frosting has a great creamy taste.
Visited Couture Cupcakes today for the first time - I will be back.
Couture Cupcakes is Fabulous! – I have been a loyal customer for almost two years, I wouldn't go anywhere else for cupcakes.
Their cupcakes are wonderful. And to make it even better they have the best prices in town.
Horrible taste and rip off prices – I went to get a dozen mini cupcakes for my son's birthday. The person helping me was rude and could not even tell me the individual flavors.....
I asked about the price and was told that the mini's were $1 each or $13 for a dozen.
I asked why it was more expensive for a dozen than individual mini's, and was told that they came in a "special" box. I ordered a dozen, and they were dumped into 2 seperate styrofoam boxes since they were out of their "special" boxes. I was of course still charged $13 for something that should have been $12 at the most.
The cupcakes were not very good, they tasted like they came from a box bought in the grocery store.
Don't waste your money... – As an avid cupcake fan, I was thrilled to hear about a cupcake bakery in Colorado Springs. However, after going into their Powers "Cinema Store" location, I was absolutely disappointed.
They list dozens of flavors on their website, but each of the four cupcakes (which were supposed to be vanilla, lemon, s'more and peanut butter) I tried didn't taste like anything but a boxed vanilla or chocolate cake mix. The frosting was the worst part - it tastes straight out of a can, is runny, and overwhelmingly sweet.
Despite this, I gave them a second chance. The second time, I sampled mint chocolate and chocolate cheesecake. Again, both just tasted like a super sweetened chocolate cake. You couldn't even SMELL the mint in the "mint" chocolate one. The chocolate cheesecake one had a big glob of cheesecake on top of it, but even the flavor of the cheesecake was overpowered by the cloyingly sweet frosting and mediocre cake.
If you want a GOOD cupcake, check out The Springs Cupcake Truck. They are phenomenal...just wish they were out more often!!
Should of just bought box cake – Just stopped in one day because I had a craving for something sweet. Shocked that someone could open up a business with these recipes. A store box cake tastes much better and the frosting is just plain awful. Actually wiped it off! Not worth 2 dollars per cupcake...Do not go here!
Not payment worthy – I went to a baby shower yesterday. The hostess pulled everything off beautifully with decorations, food, games and a winning attitude. She provided the best of the best. Trying so hard that she even ordered cupcakes from a place like this.
The cupcakes were not good at all. There were smoosh marks in the icing on top, the cupcakes papers were over filled before baking so they over flowed and were not pretty standard shapes. They were overcooked. So much so, that had they been a color other than chocolate it would have been visually noticeable. The tops were crunchy and the rest of it fell apart when you bit into it. It had the texture of cake out of a box. Think full of holes and unstable.
Although we all made conversation about how we wished she had asked around before she purchased from them, I felt bad for the hostess. She went through so much trouble and spent so much money to get the best of the best and she was given ugly overcooked cupcakes.
Too bad really!
