nothing special
by timmel at Citysearch
We sat on the back patio. Nice to eat outside. But the food was bland. Nothing we had was spicy or hot. I don't even think the refried beans had salt in them! Maybe they make the food that way for the tourists??
- Pros: nice outdoor seating
- Cons: bland food
I love this place!

I absolutely LOVE Amanda's Fonda! My husband, son, and I dine there on a regular basis! The staff is always friendly and greets us with a smile at the door. They have the best chips and salsa in town and don't even get me going on how great the margaritas are! We have to be careful not have too much of either one before our food arrives! The food is tasty and not super hot spicy- the portions are HUGE - even my teenage son walks away with a full stomach! If you haven't tried their Pollo Boracho or Carne Asada it is definitely worth the trip for either of those. The menu is fun and there is a great selection to chose from - we haven't tried everything on the menu yet but have had many of the items and not one time have we been disappointed. And the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu - and the buenuelos for dessert - one word - YUM! It is a warm atmosphere, feels like home, and when you look around you can see that everyone is really enjoying their meals and having a great time - GO CHECK IT OUT!!!!!
- Pros: Best Patio in Town!
- Cons: Place is packed on weekends!
Hmmm nothing good to say

I was at Amanda's Fonda (woo hoo) today and the service was so-so.... I saw Amandita (not the real amanda who made the place what it is) her daughter who looks like she just got out of a low rider with hydrolics (wait she did). When you see her with her giant sunglasses on it is because she is trying to hide her giant hangover she got from drinking at her bar. Drinks that she does not pay for. In addition today I saw her being rude to one of her employees. I can't believe a restaurant with such a following has been left in the hands of a 26 year old thug. Where is her father??????? Who owns this place????
- Pros: good location and a creek
- Cons: poor service, owner treats employees badly

Bad Lunch Experience
by canyonsnapper at Citysearch
I went to Amanda's for lunch with some friends and ordered the beef tostadas. When my plate came, I was surprised at how small the tostadas were and how little filling was on them. And putting cabbage on them instead of lettuce was an odd choice if you ask me. Then I tasted the refried beans and they were barely warm. Same for the rice. I asked the waitress if I could get some rice and beans that were hot. She took the plate away and brought it back a few minutes later. It was obvious that they had simply microwaved the entire plate, tostadas and all! This of course made the tostadas very unappetizing, and the beans and rice were dried out. So this is what 10 dollars buys at Amanda's. I don't think I'll be back.
Weird ingredients......

Have been here several times....first time years ago was good....lately not so...much...I grew up in Texas ...spent a lot of time in California, New Mexico, Arizona and Mexico...I have never....never...had cabbage in any of my mexican food!!! Must be for economy...certainly not for taste!!
- Pros: Nice outdoor Patio...
- Cons: bland food
What's the Big Deal?
by jib_slater at Citysearch
This place is always packed probably because of the plentiful proportions. We've been twice, the second time because we thought the first time might have been a fluke. Was just as mediocre the second time.
- Pros: Lots of food
- Cons: Everything else
Best mexican food in Colorado Springs.

Fabulous mexican food that is way better than the chains. Local flavor and ambience lends to the overall experience of this great restaurant. Try the Arroz Con Pollo - amazing!
